Why observation is so important

Most Pilates/Yoga courses have an element of additional hours which will often have observation hours as a requirement. Sometimes it seems like observation hours are just a box to tick.

Why are observation hours so important? Observation is a great opportunity for you as a student to see how an instructor manages a class, programs, cues and engages their clients. It is a very different experience to doing the class as you’re able to take a step back and see the whole class and the influence an instructor has.

Observation is already great for you to develop your teaching eye. By having the space to just watch you’ll be able to see how different bodies move, how different cues affect different people and how exercises are rarely one size fits all.

I love observation, sounds creepy but seeing how different bodies move is one of the most interesting parts of the job. Do you agree?
