Where are you positioned in the room?

When we first start teaching, maybe due to nervousness we often hang out in one space, usually somewhere we feel safe and sometimes out of sight. But why is it important to move around the room?

  1. It allows you to observe your clients from different vantage points and collect information on maybe what is or isn’t happening with their movement and form- this then can inform your cueing or adjustments you might need to make to your program

  2. When moving around and seeing things in different perspectives it allows you to consider which client needs your support and share your time with everyone

  3. If you’re visually cueing or demonstrating, it’s important to put yourself in a position where your clients can actually see you. If you choose to mirror, you’ll be able to see them but - that’s another tip

So, while it might not feel the most comfortable at first, getting into the habit of moving about the room lets you do your job as an instructor, just that little bit better.. Plus you get your steps up!
