Why I believe planning is so important

You might hear this from seasoned teachers - “I don’t plan anymore. I just make it up as I go”. “There are always people who have injuries or need mods so I don’t bother”.

However, I believe a plan is your framework. Yes, it should be adapted as you teach the bodies in front of you BUT, you need to have a clear vision of what you are going to teach. WHY?

  • Clear progressions and flow - moving from the most simple to complex concepts

  • Creates a measure for you and clients to see growth

  • Ensures there is a theme, teaching purpose

  • Helps you cover the necessary aspects like moving the spine in all directions, whole body integration, planes of movement

  • Professionalism and care - documentation for you and keeps you accountable
