Letting go

This tip is about understanding that fine line between correcting and assisting someone to overdoing it. This often happens as we care so much, we try so hard and we want everything to be perfect.

However, this is not referring to gross misalignment or anything dangerous – that needs to be corrected! ALWAYS!

What this refers to is a scenario where you’ve tried to correct with cues, tactile, visual, imagery - all of them! And it’s not landing – honestly, if they aren’t doing anything to hurt themselves sometimes it’s best to leave them be.

So what should you do?

Form can look really different on different bodies, you don’t want to be dogmatic about alignment and then just making people have a bad time or feel bad about themselves. My go to is 3 times: I’ll cue and correct people 3 times, after that, if they look like they aren’t hurting themselves – I just let it go.

Sometimes people have had a big day, things are going on and they just need a moment. Having some empathy and just letting people move, sometimes isn’t the worst thing.
